Tiger’s eye is a chatoyant gemstone that is usually a metamorphic rock that is a golden to red-brown color, with a silky luster. A member of the quartz group. Tiger’s eye is formed when the Quartz takes over and dissolves the Crocodolite, leaving the Quartz in a finely fibrous and chatoyant form. When polished, it’s silky luster creates a beautiful chatoyant effect of moving layers of brown and yellow lines and waves. Notable sources of tiger’s eye include Australia, Burma, India, Namibia, South Africa and United States. Width: 8 mm.
